Use a Font with Distinguishable Characters for User Entered Data
Aeries displays user entered text in default system fonts, where similar characters such as uppercase I and lowercase l often look identical, along with other common pairs such as the number 1, the number 0, and uppercase O. This makes it difficult to read and type values accurately, especially identifiers such as student IDs, usernames, email addresses, and codes, and leads to data entry errors and confusion. All modern web browsers have supported the @font-face feature for about a decade, which allows a website to provide its own custom fonts for displaying text (browser support reference: https://caniuse.com/fontface). A number of open source fonts with clearly distinguished characters are available under the Open Font License, which permits them to be bundled and used within Aeries (examples: https://opensource.com/article/17/11/how-select-open-source-programming-font, https://www.creativebloq.com/features/the-best-monospace-fonts-for-coding, https://diversekit.com/blog/best-free-monospace-fonts). Aeries needs to display areas containing user entered text in a font with distinguished characters, in both view and editing modes, so users can tell similar characters apart at a glance. This would improve the readability and accuracy of Aeries information and give Aeries a more distinctive look compared to competing products.
