iOS Mobile App: Courses on the Grades Tab Display Out of Chronological Order at Flex Scheduling Schools
What is happening now:
When parents or students at a Flex scheduling school log into the iOS Aeries Mobile App and navigate to the Grades tab, courses appear in the wrong order. Instead of displaying by class start time, the iOS app sorts courses by an internal sequence number that reflects the order Flex Periods were created in the system, not when they actually occur in the day. This means a class that meets at 8:00 AM may appear below a class that meets at 10:00 AM. The Android app does not have this issue and displays courses in the correct chronological order.
Why this matters:
Parents and students rely on the Grades tab to quickly find their classes and check grades. When the order does not match the actual daily schedule, it creates confusion and increases support calls to the district. The discrepancy between iOS and Android also makes it harder to troubleshoot, as the same account will look different depending on which device is used.
Impact if unchanged:
Districts with Flex scheduling will continue to receive complaints from iOS users about incorrect course order, and staff will have no workaround to offer beyond directing users to Android. The issue affects any school where Flex Periods were not created in strict chronological sequence, which is common when periods are added or adjusted over time.
Workaround:
The course period title on the Grades tab includes the class start and end time, so users can manually identify the correct order, but they cannot change how courses are sorted.
