Check with your secretary/registrar. There is a way to add aliases through the demographics page

This is especially helpful for foreign language teachers, who often use names for students in the target language.

Now, when you put the "alias" option on, it ADDS the alias to the "real" name, making it way too long. I want the alias INSTEAD of the "real" name.
