Course History Institutions: Choose which school name displays when schools share a CDS code
What is being requested: When several Course History Institutions records share the same CDS code, let the district mark one as the primary record. Its name would then display on Special Education Basic Information (School Code) and Student Demographics (Resident District and Next Resident District), instead of the record with the lowest school code.
Why this matters: Districts often keep separate institution records for programs at the same site, such as an ESY or preschool program, under the school’s CDS code. When staff pick the school in the search, the page shows the program’s name after saving, which looks like the wrong school was saved and leads to support tickets.
Value if implemented: Staff see the school name they expect on both pages, and districts can keep their program records without the display changing.
