High School Course creation scheduled by year and credit awarded by semester.
Create high school courses that can be scheduled with one course ID over the year, and credit can be awarded by semester rather than by year. For example, English IV could be scheduled in both fall and Spring using code E400, then credit would be awarded based on semester avgs. in 1/2 credit increments. Two 1/2 credits would total the full 1.0 for the year. Specifically, if a student earned a 70 or higher in the 1st semester, then .5 credit would be awarded for that sem. avg. Then if the student earns a 70 or higher in the second semester of the same course a .5 credit would be awarded again to complete the 1.0 credit total. When the student is scheduled into this course, a course code representing both semesters would be used, like E400. Currently, this credit scenario requires two course codes E400A for the fall and E400B for the Spring. The student has to be scheduled into both semesters to divided credit by semester. This is tedious, and leaves room for error. Also, each section has to be linked by semester to ensure the student stays in the same period with the same teacher for the year.
Aeries already allows for year-long courses that behave in the way that you described.
