Alternate Course Request - Sorting Option
Alternate Course Request priority sequence display in the final sequence order. Students may remove a course and add another, which defaults to last, therefore instead of the courses displaying as 1-5 the order is 2-6. Please see the example below.
The sort priority can be queried by using the Priority Sort (ACR.SRT) field, instead of the Sequence field. The sequence field is an internal ID number, not necessarily the correct sort order.

Hi Kevin -
I recently tried to assist one of my schools with querying the ACR table, and specifically to use the ACR.SRT field so that they could get course request tallies for the alternate course requests, and so that they could have a snapshot record of what parents picked as first and second alternate requests at the end of the Course Request Entry window.
The problem is that, whenever, the parent had made multiple entries and then deleted entries or changed the priority order, the ACR.SRT numbers become "strange" for the average end user. There were some entries with "0.5" or "27", etc. While I understand how this works from a programming perspective, it's not easy for your average school staff a query on ACR to interpret those strange Priority Sort order numbers that are created as alternate course entries get added and deleted. Is there any way to have the ACR.SRT always be whole numbers 1 thru N?
