Lockdown taking Attendance in an Emergency
We read a question on CITE regarding how to track where students are in the event of a lockdown. Attendance is not sufficient as students may have left the classroom to go to the bathroom, office, etc., or perhaps the lockdown occurred during a passing period/recess. In talking with my team, we feel we could build a lockdown attendance system within the confines of Aeries.
In the event of a lockdown, you could press a button in Aeries that would create a Supplemental Attendance program for Lockdown-DATE. The process would then create sessions for every teacher and add students that should be in their class based on day and time. Sessions would also be created for common areas defined in a table, like the library, counseling office, attendance office, principal's office, etc.
Staff would then take supplemental attendance on students. Sessions would have the ability to add students not on their roster so if they pulled a kid from the hallway into the classroom, they could mark them safe.
Admin would have access to a dashboard that shows all students not marked safe (not marked present in supplemental attendance) but present at school (not marked absent in all periods that have already happened.) Report parameters could be changed to show all students and their safe/not safe/not on campus status, or search for a particular student.
