Here are three changes that would improve the usability of the new Mass Apply feature for attendance:

1) Having the menu hidden by default is a nuisance for a teacher who has to use it 7 times a day. There should be an option to have the filter open by default. Perhaps a checkbox?
2) The filter should remember the last setting used. For example if a teacher is filtering for a specific cohort that corresponds with a day the week, they would only have to set the filter up once at the start of the day instead of 7 times per day.
3) The tooltip on the "Apply Filter" button should be on the two "Apply" buttons below instead. It does not make sense where it is because the "Apply Filter" button has to be pressed before students appear in blue.
