We were just informed yesterday in a CALPADS Vendor call that there is updated guidance regarding Attendance Recovery (AR) sessions. We are analyzing this information and making modifications to our business logic, but thought it was best to let our customers know about this guidance, so they can plan their Attendance Recovery sessions accordingly.
The CDE interpretation of the legislation makes this point:
- A student may generate a day of attendance for apportionment by participating in Attendance Recovery (AR) over multiple days, accruing time in hourly increments (EC Section 46211(e)(1))
There is an FAQ for Attendance Recovery maintained by CDE here: CDE has indicated that it will be updated shortly confirming the following clarifications.
- When participation time on a day is less than one hour, that time does not accrue towards meeting the applicable minimum daily minute requirement.
- Fractions of an hour do not carry forward. For…

Idea for a "canned" report. A next year enrollment report based on a students' next grade & next school. It would include the option to review this at the district level or site level. It would be similar to the "Active Student" Report, but looking at the "next field" it would include both active students and pre-enrolled students.

This clarification message was added to the SUN Bucks communcation pieced linked earlier, so we are adding it here to maintain consistency as to our plans:
-----------------
There seems to still be some confusion, so we are clarifying out intended actions, as many comments added to this idea cover a wide variety of requests:
We are planning development during the current quarter to make specific upgrades to allow recording in Aeries which students were designated as Free or Reduced based on the UBA (and not the NSLP Application) via a new Source Code. Also, in the same way that districts can make the NSLP application available for download in the parent portal, a customized UBA could also be uploaded into the Parent Portal so they can access it to fill out.
The actual collecting of the UBA, analyzing the responses, assigning the status to a student, and conducting audits would…

The "Households" concept that will be introduced with Aeries NextGen should handle this situation. Thank you for submitting the idea!

I agree with the comments below, especially with Jennie Ibarra. " there should also be a feasible way to disregard the income responses for a parent if the district has already determined them to be categorically eligible (either by ignoring the income response or not even allowing the parent to submit it if we have already determined the higher benefit through direct certification). This will be a big issue for CEP districts and trying to maintain this information." and Cassandra Lane " We also can't control the entry date, which really should be the students' enrollment dates, not the date the parents completed the income survey."
Having the survey has helped us to determine those families that are income eligible and for our unduplicated counts, however, it has created invalid removal of direct certification data, and duplicate records.

Based on CDE's new attendance recovery mandate that states that a student can only earn minutes towards AR in 1 hour blocks, not fractions of hours, can Aeries please build logic in the Supplemental Database to help manage & report this accurately?
I'm struggling to balance inputting students that are attending this program and their actual time spent vs whether their time counts or doesn't count.
