Description:
Currently, Aeries combines Attendance Recovery ADA (generated through ADA Makeup Codes) into overall ADA totals. While districts can view total ADA and utilize queries related to Attendance Recovery, there is no built-in method to separately identify, calculate, or report:
Regular ADA earned through standard attendance
ADA earned specifically through Attendance Recovery/ADA Makeup Codes
As a result, districts must manually interpret and reconcile Attendance Recovery ADA outside of standard attendance reporting processes.
Our district would like Aeries to add functionality that separates Attendance Recovery ADA from regular ADA instead of combining both values into a single ADA total.
Requested Enhancement:
Add functionality that allows districts to separately view and report:
Regular ADA only (excluding Attendance Recovery ADA)
Attendance Recovery ADA only
Combined ADA totals
This could be accomplished through either:
Separate calculation logic within the Monthly Attendance Summary process, or
Separate built-in reports/totals, such as:
Regular ADA Report
Attendance Recovery ADA Report
The system should identify ADA generated through ADA Makeup Codes and calculate those totals independently from standard attendance ADA.
Why This Is Needed:
Districts are required to separately track and report Attendance Recovery ADA for state reporting and auditing purposes, including PADC-related reporting. Currently, districts must manually calculate or estimate the Attendance Recovery portion because Aeries only provides combined ADA totals along with queries that districts must interpret and reconcile manually.
This becomes increasingly difficult during Summer School and extended Attendance Recovery periods, where students may recover absences dating back to earlier reporting periods or even the beginning of the school year. Because recovered ADA is merged into overall ADA totals without a distinct reporting structure, districts may have difficulty determining:
Which Attendance Recovery sessions generated ADA
Which reporting period the recovered ADA should apply to
Whether absences have already been recovered previously
The lack of separate reporting and audit visibility increases the risk of duplicate recovery tracking, inconsistent reporting practices between districts, and potential data integrity concerns during attendance audits and state reporting reviews.
Adding separate logic and reporting functionality would:
Improve reporting accuracy
Reduce manual calculations and reconciliation work
Simplify auditing and verification processes
Provide greater transparency into ADA calculations
Help districts meet reporting requirements more efficiently
This enhancement would be especially valuable within the Monthly Attendance Summary process, where districts need clearer visibility into how ADA totals are being generated and attributed.
