Google Classroom/Aeries - Allow sync for ALL assignments even if "Is Grading Complete?" box is checked
When using Google Classroom, if a student completes a missing assignment, it will not import to Aeries if the "Is Grading Complete?" box is checked. But if we do not check that box, then the overall grade is not calculated properly (the missing assignment does not count as a zero as it should - a student with many missing assignments will look like they are getting a much higher grade). It would be VERY helpful to have the Google Classroom and Aeries sync update scores without having to uncheck and recheck the "Is Grading Complete?" box all the time. Please help!

I need to be able to select many assignments for "Grading Complete" in the gradebook at once without the page reloading. Every time I select/deselect "grading complete" the page reloads and I lose my spot and it takes 5 seconds (valuable when you are selecting 50 assignments for 6 periods each). This is important because I do a mass grade import from Google Classroom. The assignments need to be left marked complete for accurate grade reports on a daily basis, but when I update/import scores from GC I need to deselect all assignments for grading complete (to enable overwriting), upload/import, and then mark them complete again. The process currently takes forever. Please fix this!

It is now completely broken at our site (Oceanside Unified School District) with the "Import Assignments from Google now just quickly running through each assignment but not actually updating the gradebook. See https://drive.google.com/file/d/16cOZRY_x0am9DqJxMpx2frZicbIZmC1V/view

Seems like this is causing issues. When it imports it only imports the score to gbs.mk and doesn't populate gbs.np gbs.nc gbs.mx gbs.scr and gbs.pc. I ran this update to fix it temporarily and instructed teachers not to use the import for now.
update gbs
set gbs.np = gba.np, gbs.nc = convert(money,gbs.mk), gbs.mx = gba.np,gbs.SCR = convert(money,gbs.mk), gbs.pc = (gbs.mk/gba.np)*100
from gbs
inner join gba on gba.gn = gbs.gn and gba.an = gbs.an
inner join gbk on gbk.gn = gba.gnwhere
gba.np <> gbs.np
and gba.np <> 0 and (gbs.scr = 0 and gbs.mk <> '')
and gbs.mk not in ('NA','TX') and gbs.del = 0 and gba.del = 0 and gbk.sc in (1,2,3,7,8,9) and gbk.del = 0 and gba.EI like 'google%' -

How about Aeries separates the existing checkbox function into two checkboxes --
Keep the existing checkbox 'Is Grading Complete' to be used as it has been which will allow us to report missing assignments and calculate the grade.
And, Add a new checkbox to be used for blocking Google Synch.

Then you need to create the ability to uncheck grading complete for multiple assignments at once or at the very least a single click to uncheck all at once and then recheck all at once. Having to hand sync one assignment at a time for every assignment in every grade book defeats the purpose of have a sync button in the first place.

I just found the place to sync an individual assignment. This is a lot of clicks to update and is more cumbersome and time consuming than clicking the "Is Grading Complete?" off on a bunch of assignments and doing a manual sync.
We really need a way to easily update all assignments even if the Grading Complete is on.

@camden iliff I understand your point and appreciate anything that makes the sync faster. SUGGESTION: provide an easier way to toggle the grading complete on or off. A single button to toggle all on off OR a single page with all listed and I’ll click each on or off. Opening up each assignment, even just the info header takes sooooo long.

Teachers use "Grading Completed" as a way to indicate to students what is missing and affecting their grade. As the year goes on though, many students turn in many missing assignments. I get that the process takes a long time, but is there some kind of work around so Google doesn't reject the sync process? It took me 20 minutes today for one class period to go through each and every assignment to manually sync as suggested. I still have 4 classes to go through. Maybe a sync button that goes just to one period and only looks at the students with missing assignments?

Hello Camden - Thank you for your response, but I am not seeing a way to sync an individual assignment. Can you please post on how to do this?
-
Unfortunately, the Sync All process can not process every assignment for the entire year as it will create too many calls to Google and will result in the process taking too long or Google beginning to reject calls from Aeries for the sync process and then the entire sync process will fail. If you change scores in Google AFTER you have indicated that grading has been completed, you can click the Sync button on the individual assignment.

And the fact that Aeries used to import all scores, regardless of "Grading Completed" being checked or not makes it all the more frustrating that we now have to beg for this to be a feature.

Many of my students have assignments that need to be made up and students are allowed to retake tests and fix errors on other assignments. This makes things very difficult to go back and forth with who did what with what assignments. Previously I was updating assignments just in Aeries when students did work outside the due date, then when updating if I had not changed it in google before importing it would change those grades back to zero so, I would just update in google and problem solved. Now it does not work that way and I have to not only update in google but also in Aeries if I do not uncheck the graded complete. This would not be a big deal but I have over a 100 students and I have at least 2 grades to enter everyday and sometimes more depending on the assignment and Chapter. This is very time consuming for something that was not the case in the beginning, please fix it so that grades can be updated even if grading is complete, this effects the students as well as the teachers ability to allow students the opportunity to make up and fix work. Thank you for your attention tk this matter and sorry for the long comment.
Sincerely,
Mr. David Danks

Please help us by making this fix in Aeries. I also think that there should be a 'Save' button as well for us when importing grades into Aeries.

If anything just add a function box that allows us to click on and off all assignment grading completed so that before importing grades we could click it off and then after importing grades we can click it on.... The box could be placed in the upper left corner of gradebook where the other function boxes are like override, filters, and trend.
