  1. SSID Import fails with new CALPADS SpEd Indicator

CALPADS added a new field to the SSID Extract file to hold a Special Education indicator as of 9/15/2020. We are adjusting our import process to handle this new indicator in a similar fashion as the English Language Acquisition Code and Date in the SSID Extract.

Hello, this bug has been completed in the 9/17/20 Hot Fix update. Here are the Revision Notes:

The SSID import has been adjusted to account for the new “Student with Disabilities” column present in the file. Also, the SENR extract has been adjusted to only use E450 for PS, TD, or IN grades.

  2. SELA Conflict Report-Add options for report

CALPADS - SELA Conflict report - Needs report options added:

    1) Add option to skip Pre-school students (errors reported are invalid for PS)
    2) Have report honor KEEP and SKIPS.
    3) School selector when run at district, or honor Schools tab

These adjustments were made in the 11/20/2020 update to Aeries:
SELA Conflict Report – The report has been adjusted to handle Adult English Learner (ADEL) language fluency. Also, it now supports KEEP / SKIP, school selection (when logged at the district and not running the report from the CALPADS page), and the ability to skip Pre-School (PS) grade level.

  3. CALPADS Work-Based Learning Extract (WBLR)

A new extract is being created to submit data related to student internships, student-led enterprises, and virtual/simulated work-based learning. This Work-Based Learning (WBLR) file will be submitted and certified as part of the CALPADS End-of-Year (EOY) 1 submission. Work-based learning provides additional opportunities for students to demonstrate their preparedness for college/career through the College/Career Indicator (CCI) on the California School Dashboard.

  4. Remove green highlighting from retired CALPADS fields

Because the Highly Qualified field is no longer reported to CALPADS and is obsolete, please turn off the green highlight from the Teachers page and the MST/SMS pages.

    Other fields to be addressed:
    NCLB Core fields
    Voc Ed Level

  5. Ability to Calculate Attendance Totals Based on Period Attendance

Would like the option to Calculate Attendance Totals Based on Period Attendance instead of daily attendance for CALPADS EOY reporting for STAS

Hello, the idea has been completed in the 12/04/2020 update. Here are the Revision Notes:

School Option – A new option has been added to Calculate Attendance Totals Based on Period Attendance. This option will impact attendance calculations, attendance history calculations, CALPADS STAS extract, the student profile display and the attendance page display.

  6. SELA Conflict Report-Fix ADEL issue

SELA Conflict Report is not recognizing the date in the EL Start date field as being the one to compare to what is in the EAD field that came from CALPADS.

Hello, this idea/bug has been completed in the 1/15/21 update. Here are the Revision Notes:
CALPADS Extracts – The SELA extract now includes Adult Ed students.
Language Assessment – The new Adult Ed Date field from LAC (LAC.AES) was added.
SELA Conflict Report – The report now uses the new date field for ADEL students (LAC.AES).

  7. CALPADS-Allow SENR extracts before school starts

Districts have requested the ability to create SENR extracts in a new school year for all students, prior to the first day of school, without having to activate ATT. This would greatly facilitate Direct Certification and also summer IELPAC testing.

Hello, this idea/bug has been completed in the 09/15/2020 update. Here are the Revision Notes:
The SENR extract has been updated according to the CALPADS CFS v12. The SENR indicators have been removed from the extract, and the new 1.34 column has been added. Also, an option has been added to extract the SENR file before school begins, as long as a calendar has been created. The enrollment date will be the first day of school.

  8. New Students Enrolled After Our Last Day of In-School Attendance and CALPADS STAS File

For EOY 3; STAS, CSIS is saying we need to send up a STAS record for new students who enrolled after our last day of in-school attendance but we can exempt them. Is there a way to auto-exempt them based on the new field in District Options for our last day of attendance if the student's first day of enrollment falls after that date?

Hello, the bug has been completed in the 6/8/20 update. Here are the Revision Notes:

The STAS extract logic has been updated to include students enrolled after the last day of regular attendance. These students will be extracted with a “Y” in the Absence Exempt Indicator column. Also, teachers taking attendance would cause the Attendance History totals to be recalculated without limiting by the Last Day of Regular School Attendance when populated, fixed.

  9. PSTS-Need ability to record multiple CALPADS Post-Secondary Status

Brandi with CDE confirmed that CALPADS is supporting multiple status codes for one student. We were not aware of this when we reviewed and programmed the PSTS extract based on the new code set and the file layout.

WORKAROUND: We will make adjustments in the future, but for the current Fall 2 PSTS reporting, we are only extracting one status code per student.

Hello, this idea/bug has been completed in the 11/06/20 update. Here are the Revision Notes: The PSTS extract was adjusted according to the latest CALPADS specification. The new Post-Secondary Survey (PSS) table is used for the extract, and the SSD table is no longer used. The Post-Secondary Survey table is located as a separate tab on the Secondary Student Data page. 10. Dual Enrollment Summer Term Should Be Extracted to CalPads

Currently Dual Enrollment courses that count as High School Credits but are taken through local colleges over the summer are not extracted for reporting to CalPads so long as they are added as a Summer Term. The problem is that if they are entered as a Fall/Spring Term then the data is inaccurate in Aeries and also it confuses Parents/Students because on the Transcript it prints under the Fall/Spring Term.

There should be a way for Summer Term classes entered on the transcript that are specially marked as Dual Enrollment courses to be extracted to be uploaded to CalPads. These…

  11. Add Peace Officer to the Behavioral Emergency Staff Type Dropdown

Per CDE the restraints and seclusions made by peace officers should not be reported to CALPADS. We do know that it is required for Civil Rights Data Collection. Can a code be added to the BER Staff Type dropdown to identify mechanical restraint instances performed by peace officers?

Hello, this item has been completed in the 06/18/2020 update. Here are the Revision Notes:

Behavioral Emergency – A new field has been added to this page to allow tracking the reason of the restraint/seclusion. There are no default/state codes. All the codes are user-defined and they are not reported to CALPADS.
Additionally, after clarification from CDE, the Staff Type description has been adjusted to “02 – District police officer, school resource officer (SRO) or other Peace Officer NOT performing an arrest”. Any BER record containing this code will not be reported to CALPADS. If a student is restrained while being arrested, a disposition code for Arrested should be entered, not a restraint record.
