Add a place for students/parents to access non-assignments specific documents
A spot that will always be visible to students and parents that documents can be uploaded to (a sidebar or briefcase for them). For example I would upload my syllabus there as well as graph paper and a few other handouts that I would want them to be able to download whenever. Now I must attach them to an assignment.

I create a few "fake" assignments at start of the year. visible to parents, but worth no points, never marked as "complete" and link docs to that.
